The National Association of Home Builders recently surveyed home builders from across the country to see which features they were most likely to include in their single-family homes this year.
According to the results, builders feel that their buyers are looking for convenience, livability and energy efficiency.
The most popular features for new homes built in 2014 are:
A walk-in closet in the master bedroom
Low-e windows
A separate laundry room
A great room
Homebuyers are interested in energy efficient features such as Energy-Start appliances and programmable thermostats.
Builders surveyed also listed the following popular design features:
Granite countertops
Double sink in kitchen
Linen closet
9 foot ceiling heights
Front porch
Outdoor lighting
Patio
